Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! Duties
- Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and warmth, providing exceptional patient service at all times
- Manage appointment scheduling using EMR systems with Eclinical works
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures to facilitate smooth billing processes
- Collect and process payments, including medical collections, accurately documenting all transactions in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Maintain accurate medical records by filing, updating, and reviewing documentation within various EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems such as Meditech or Dentrix
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to answer inquiries, schedule appointments, and relay messages promptly
- Assist with intake procedures, including patient registration and data entry using computer skills like typing and 10-key typing for efficiency
- Support medical billing activities by understanding CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and Medicare requirements for accurate claims submission
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations
- Manage front desk operations including appointment reminders, patient check-in/out processes, and maintaining a welcoming environment
Experience
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role for more than 1 year
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR eClinicalWorks,
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures
- Experience with insurance verification processes and Medicare guidelines
- Excellent customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with basic computer skills for data entry and documentation review
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is advantageous; bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations
- Ability to handle clerical tasks such as filing, documentation review, and managing multi-line phone systems efficiently
- Obtain prior authorizations for medications, Cat scans and MRI
