Peco InspX designs, builds, sells and supports inspection systems for the food processing and packaging markets. Systems using x-ray radiation take images at full production speeds to confirm product contents and absence of stray contaminants in packages such as metal cans, glass jars and cartons. For such systems to be built and shipped efficiently, accurate and well-documented engineering drawings are essential. Peco InspX has an immediate opening for a Drafter to support our engineering team. This position is located out of our Modesto, CA facility at 1616 Culpepper Ave, and is an in-office role.
Overview of Role
Peco InspX's engineering team designs custom, built-to-order inspection systems that require accurate and complete manufacturing documentation. The Drafter will work closely with our engineers to take 3D models created during the design process and translate them into detailed 2D production prints, flat patterns, and other manufacturing documentation needed by our fabrication, machining, and assembly teams.
The purpose of this position is to ensure that engineering designs are translated into clear, accurate, and manufacturable documentation, and that drawing standards and revision control are maintained consistently across the department. This position reports to Engineering.
Compensation
The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is $26.50 – $36.00 per hour. Actual pay offered will depend on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.
Job Responsibilities
- Convert 3D CAD models provided by engineers into detailed 2D drawings/prints for fabrication and assembly
- Create flat patterns for sheet metal components
- Apply proper dimensioning, tolerancing (GD&T), and drawing standards to all prints
- Collaborate with engineers to clarify design intent and resolve drawing discrepancies
- Maintain drawing revision control and documentation in accordance with department standards
- Support creation and updates of bills of material (BOMs) as needed
- Assist with organizing and archiving drawing files and related documentation
Qualifications
- Must have hands-on experience with SolidWorks
- Familiarity with sheet metal flat pattern development a plus
- Working knowledge of GD&T and standard drafting practices
- Must be familiar with computer programs such as Word, Excel, Google Drive, etc.
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems will be helpful
Pay: $26.50 - $36.00 per hour
