Position Overview
The Houseman plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the hotel’s public areas, service areas, and back-of-house spaces. This role supports the housekeeping team by handling deep cleaning tasks, delivering linens and supplies, and ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for guests and staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities/Daily Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, and hose down patios, carports, stairwells, and sidewalks.
- Collect dirty linens from housekeeping carts and deliver to laundry.
- Deliver clean linens and guest supplies to housekeepers.
- Remove trash and empty garbage from assigned areas, including vending areas and service landings.
- Clean and maintain flowerbeds, entryways, and exterior landings.
- Replenish and stock storerooms with housekeeping supplies.
- Clean and organize loading dock and service areas.
- Assist with guest requests such as rollaway beds, cribs, and special equipment.
- Transport glassware and dishware to laundry/kitchen for cleaning.
- Maintain cleanliness of employee areas, restrooms, and staff corridors.
- Respond promptly to guest and supervisor requests.
Periodic & Special Projects
- Shampoo carpets in hallways, smoking rooms, and guest corridors as scheduled.
- Deep clean service landings, trash compactors, and storage rooms.
- Flip mattresses quarterly and record maintenance logs.
- Power wash carports and remove wall marks as needed.
- Dust hallway vents, door frames, and high surfaces regularly.
- Assist in moving furniture and setting up special projects/events.
- Perform miscellaneous deep cleaning as assigned by supervisor.
Work Schedule
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays as required.
- Work assignments include daily duties and periodic deep cleans.
Qualifications
- Prior housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull carts, and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying supplies.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals (with PPE provided).
- Ability to work indoors/outdoors in varying weather.
