Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Dispatching Clerk to join our logistics team. Responsibilities
- Manage daily dispatching activities for freight and vehicle movements using transportation management systems.
- Coordinate with drivers, carriers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and SyteLine to ensure accurate scheduling and routing.
- Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve road transportation operations.
- Maintain detailed records of shipments, dispatch logs, and inbound/outbound freight.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal departments through phone call management and email to resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations during dispatching processes while adhering to safety standards.
- Support shipping & receiving activities by organizing freight schedules, managing 3PL logistics providers, and overseeing fleet management tasks.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of GPS tracking and transportation planning tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for data entry, reporting, and communication.
- Experience with transportation management systems.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment involving road transportation operations.
- Effective phone etiquette combined with strong internal communication skills for coordinating dispatch activities.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations governing freight transport and vehicle dispatching procedures.
- Ability to analyze logistical data for route optimization and problem-solving in freight movement scenarios.
- Competence in using vehicle dispatch software like Samsara and ITS Dispatch.
