Job Summary: As the Director of Catering and Events, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all events at the club, including but not limited to weddings, banquets, corporate meetings, and member events. You will work closely with the Assistant General Manager/Director of Food and Beverage and other departments to ensure the seamless operation of all events, from initial inquiry to post-event follow-up. You will also supervise a team of catering and event staff and contribute to the development of strategies to drive member engagement and satisfaction.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all private and member events at the club.
· Responsible for Banquet Event Order (BEO) creation and billing for all events.
· Develop and maintain relationships with members, ensuring that their event expectations are exceeded.
· Work closely with the Assistant General Manager to align event objectives with the club’s goals and standards.
· Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring profitability while maintaining quality.
· Supervise and train catering and event staff to ensure high standards of service and execution.
· Act as the primary point of contact for members, providing exceptional customer service from initial inquiry through to post-event follow-up.
· Assist with marketing efforts to promote club events and drive member participation.
· Stay current with industry trends and best practices to continually enhance the club’s event offerings.
· Continually ensures that all employees meet proper uniform standards.
· Communicates with staff relaying necessary information regarding daily operations within the Club.
· Accepts Member complaints and works with the Assistant General Manager to provide solutions to achieve Member satisfaction in a professional and timely manner.
· Works closely with the entire Management Team, ensuring that the member and guest expectations are met and exceeded.
· Promotes a positive work environment and a positive team atmosphere with all management and staff.
· Attends weekly food and beverage meetings with the Food and Beverage Management Team.
· Create banquet service staff job assignments and floor plan details.
· Performs additional tasks and responsibilities as delegated by the Assistant General Manager/ Director of Food and Beverage.
Additional Duties/Responsibilities:
· Primary duty is management and leadership, however, they may be required to fill in as a Server, Host, Busser/Runner, Bartender, etc. to relieve/back-up staff during peak periods or when short staffed.
· Gains knowledge of the implementation of all Club initiatives and programs that are requested by management.
· Teams with other Club departments to ensure exemplary customer service and adherence to policies and procedures.
· Maintains knowledge of other Clubs and industry trends.
Minimum Education, Experience & Other Skills:
· Four-year college degree or equivalent experience required.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in catering and event management, preferably in a private club or upscale hospitality environment.
· Experience in resolving customer issues/complaints as well as overall excellent customer service required.
· Solid time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
· Proven ability to effectively build and foster a team environment.
· Ability to effectively communicate verbally and non-verbally with others.
· Ability to work with all types of personality, even in adverse situations.
· Ability to prioritize, anticipate situations, and take quick action.
· Proficient in Word, Excel, POS Systems, and various software applications including, inventory management, and project management tools.
Other Requirements:
· Ability to lift at 25-50 pounds.
· While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be required to walk or stand for long periods of time.
· Must be able to bend, climb, balance, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl without hindrance.
· While performing this job, employees will be exposed to sunlight, heat, and humid conditions.
· Maintains a professional appearance appropriate to position and as per Club policy.
· Ability to climb on step stool or ladder to complete elements of the job or facilitate maintenance issues.
· Fine motor skills.
