The Educational Assistant supports classroom instruction by assisting teachers with daily activities, reinforcing student learning, and helping maintain a positive, safe, and structured learning environment.

Support small-group and individual instruction under the direction of the teacher.

Reinforce classroom instruction and student learning activities.

Use instructional strategies and materials aligned with lesson objectives.

Maintain student engagement in appropriate learning activities.

Assist in maintaining classroom discipline and reinforcing behavioral expectations.

Supervise students in:

Hallways

Playgrounds

Cafeterias

Other assigned areas

Escort students to and from classrooms or other school locations as needed.

Supervise students during field trips and extracurricular activities.

Fulfill assigned supervision duties such as:

Hall duty

Bus duty

Lunch duty

Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom setup.

Assist with specialized units and classroom activities.

Maintain attendance records and complete clerical tasks as assigned.

Create and update bulletin boards and classroom displays.

Operate standard school equipment, including:

Communicate accurate and current information to support student learning.

Collaborate professionally with administrators, staff, parents, and students.

Safeguard school property, equipment, and instructional materials.

Serve as a positive role model within the school community.

Report suspected child abuse or neglect according to district policy.

Monitor and supervise students in assigned settings under the direction of certified staff.

High school diploma or equivalent

Valid New Mexico Educational Assistant License
