The Shipping & Receiving Manager is responsible for managing inbound and outbound material flow, maintaining organized inventory, and ensuring accurate shipment preparation. This role is critical to keeping production moving and delivering projects on time.
This person will work directly with purchasing, production, and project management to maintain efficiency across the shop and yard.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming aluminum extrusions, hardware, and vendor shipments
- Verify quantities and inspect deliveries for damage or discrepancies
- Organize and stage materials for fabrication and assembly teams
- Pull material for jobs based on shop packets and production schedules
- Coordinate outbound shipments including LTL, flatbed, and dedicated freight
- Load and unload trucks safely using forklifts and material handling equipment
- Maintain inventory accuracy and report shortages or damaged goods
- Assist with yard organization, material storage, and workflow optimization
- Track freight costs, shipment dates, and vendor pickups
- Work closely with purchasing to manage replenishment needs
- Support occasional local pickups or deliveries (CDL a plus)
Qualifications
- 2+ years in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or manufacturing logistics preferred
- Experience operating forklifts and handling long-length materials preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read packing slips, bills of lading, and job-specific material lists
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Outlook, inventory systems)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in an active warehouse/shop environment
- Construction or building products experience is a plus
- CDL or willingness to obtain one is a bonus
