Staghorn Gardens is an ecologically based gardening company based in North Kingstown. We provide creative and fine gardening services to our clients in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. We are searching for a part-time gardener to work until November providing services such as weeding, planting, deadheading, pruning, mulching and general maintenance of landscape gardens. Staghorn Gardening supports JEDI and encourages all who have a love of the outdoors to apply.
Staghorn Gardening operates during the hours of 8 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional extended hours during peak season may occur.
This position is a 1099 subcontractor part-time poistion, 1-2 days a week, but has the potential to grow to a full employee position.
Duties:
- Plant flowers, trees, and other plants according to design plans
- Maintain garden beds by weeding, mulching and cultivating the soil
-Maintain vegetable gardens with an organic approach
- Operate hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning shears, and battery powered equipment
- Communicate all landscape and client questions or concerns with owner, when requested
-Scouting for pests using integrated pest management
-Application of closed-loop applications. Applications are done as needed
Qualifications
-Must have own reliable transportation
- Comfortable using hand tools for gardening tasks
- Knowledge of basic plant identification and best horticultural practices
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to kneel, lift, stand, bend, pull, push repeatedly through-out the day.
