POSITION SUMMARY
Our Trailer Mechanics are responsible for maintaining the company’s fleet of trailers as well as aspects of the facility’s physical plant in a safe and cost-efficient manner. As a member of the maintenance team, Trailer Mechanics perform maintenance, repair, and inspection work on Sibley’s dry van trailers complying with all applicable DOT, OSHA, and applicable safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform routine/preventative maintenance and trailer repair safely and efficiently.
· Observe, note, and report any deficiencies in the condition of company equipment.
· Perform truck and trailer alignments.
· Perform tire balancing, tire repair, and tire installation.
· Enter data regarding repairs, time spent, and parts used on repairs in Fleet Maintenance Software.
· Maintain work area and cleanliness of the shop, ensuring safety and compliance.
· Maintain proficiency on equipment and technologies that enhance productivity.
· Abide by all safety protocols, including PPE, Lock Out/Tag Out, etc.
· Communicate with Foreman and Parts and Inventory Specialist regarding work performed, parts used, equipment needed, or emergent issues with any job.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
· High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
· Associate degree or (two-year degree and/or Technical School preferred.)
Experience:
· Minimum of one year of mechanical experience on heavy equipment and/or trailers required or equivalent education combined with experience.
· Must be skilled in the use of cutting and welding torch.
· Prior experience in Fleet Maintenance Software desired.
Certifications & Licenses:
· Maine State Inspection License preferred
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, and the ability to use hands or fingers to handle and reach. Requires dexterity sufficient to enter data and communicate electronically. Must be able to hear and speak to communicate sufficiently by telephone and in person, see sufficiently to examine documents, and view a computer monitor. The position also requires the ability to stand, walk, and frequently lift up to 75 lbs.
