Primary Purpose of Job: Provide fast and courteous service to all customers. Additional responsibilities include suggestive selling, stocking, cleaning, and practicing proper safety procedures.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Know all company procedures.
- Be familiar with store layout and merchandise.
- Practice proper customer relations at all times.
- Know how to operate all equipment in the store.
- Know how to properly stock inventory.
- Know and follow all preventive maintenance procedures.
- Know and follow all State laws for liquor/beer and tobacco.
- Keep everything inside and outside of the store clean.
- Administer sales transactions.
- Cash transactions
- Credit card transactions
- Lotto/lottery transactions
- Issue money orders
- Be available to assist with shift coverage (most stores 24 hours).
- Handle any other work that can be assigned at supervisor's discretion.
Education/Experience Qualifications Preferred: Highschool Diploma 1 year of experience in customer service/retail field
Detailed Functions:
- Serve the customers.
- Front and fill coolers.
- Issue money orders.
- Administer credit card transactions.
- Administer lotto/lottery transactions.
- Clean, front, and stock shelves.
- Clean and wash down parking lots.
- Clean and wash windows.
- Sweep and mop floors.
- Carry out garbage.
- Keep coffee fresh (every 45 minutes).
- Be sure money is secured at all times.
- Keep register at or below $100.00 at all times.
- Document all refunds, void, and no sales by attaching corrected receipt.
- Must be able to complete shift report.
- Know how to check vendors in and out.
- Know how to sign for and receive gasoline deliveries.
- Keep ice merchandiser clean.
- Keep walk-in cooler, restrooms, and back room clean and neat.
- Price merchandise.
- Rotate stock, pumps, countertops, shelves, etc.
- Ring up all sales.
- Practice plus selling and provide prompt courteous service.
- Always maintain a clean and neat image (see dress code).
- Know and follow state laws for liquor/beer, cigarettes, and adult magazines.
- Control cash shortages.
- Know and follow procedures for manufacturer’s coupons.
- Know company policy and procedures for carrying out shoplifting and robbery preventive measures.
- Allow no one behind checkout counter or into the backroom without proper identification.
