Part-Time Ophthalmic Technician / Front Desk Coordinator
Location: Brooklyn Heights, NY
Practice: Soraya Vision Studio
Soraya Vision Studio is a modern, boutique optometric practice specializing in comprehensive eye care and dry eye treatment. We are seeking an experienced, dependable Ophthalmic Technician who is also comfortable assisting with front desk responsibilities. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a calm, patient-focused environment and is confident working independently.
Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary testing and patient work-ups
- Conduct diagnostic testing (OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, etc.)
- Assist the doctor with patient flow and clinical procedures
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Obtain authorizations when needed
- Submit and manage referrals
- Schedule appointments and answer phones
- Check patients in and out
- Collect copays and balances
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout the patient experience
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of ophthalmic or optometric technician experience required
- Previous front desk and insurance verification experience required
- Strong understanding of medical and vision insurance
- Comfortable working independently with low patient volume
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Professional, dependable, and detail-oriented
- Experience with RevolutionEHR is a strong plus
- Experience with dry eye care is a plus
