Job Summary Maison des Ami of Louisiana is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Worker to provide essential support to individuals with Behavior Health diagnoses is in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for clients, including seniors and individuals with disabilities. This role involves working closely with clients to ensure their comfort, safety, and well-being while promoting independence through personalized care plans.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure compliance with care plans.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes in health status to appropriate personnel.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual client needs, adjusting as necessary based on ongoing assessments.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
- Assist with memory care activities for clients experiencing cognitive challenges.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients, ensuring hygiene standards are upheld.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to coordinate care effectively.
Experience
- Previous experience in mental illness or working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with first aid practices is advantageous.
- Experience in developing or following care plans tailored to individual client requirements is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members are essential.
- A compassionate attitude towards providing care and support is crucial for success in this role.
