We are seeking an experienced Surgical Scrub Technician / Sterile Processing Technician (SPD) to join our new and growing ambulatory surgery center.
This role is ideal for a dependable and highly organized surgical professional who is comfortable working in both the operating room and sterile processing environment. As our surgery center continues to grow, we are looking for someone who can confidently support surgical procedures, maintain sterile technique, and ensure instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, processed, sterilized, and ready for use.
Previous surgical scrub experience is required. Experience with sterile processing and instrument sterilization is strongly preferred. Ambulatory Surgery Center experience is a plus.
Duties
- Prepare the operating room and sterile field for scheduled surgical procedures.
- Review case needs and ensure required instruments, supplies, equipment, and implants are available prior to surgery.
- Scrub surgical procedures and assist the surgeon by anticipating procedural needs and passing instruments and supplies appropriately.
- Maintain strict sterile technique throughout surgical procedures and immediately identify breaks in sterility.
- Perform surgical counts with the circulating nurse according to facility policy.
- Assist with room turnover and preparation between surgical cases.
- Properly decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments.
- Operate sterilization equipment according to manufacturer instructions and facility policies.
- Complete required sterilization logs, biological and chemical indicator documentation, and other SPD records.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, function, damage, and completeness before sterilization and use.
- Maintain proper storage and rotation of sterile supplies and surgical instruments.
- Monitor expiration dates and integrity of sterile packages.
- Assist with inventory management and notify leadership when instruments or supplies require replacement or restocking.
- Follow facility policies related to infection prevention, exposure control, sterile processing, and patient safety.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other members of the surgical team.
- Contribute to a professional, supportive, and team-oriented environment as our center continues to grow.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous surgical scrub experience required.
- Strong workflow.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments and proper instrument handling.
- Experience with decontamination, instrument assembly, packaging, sterilization, and sterile storage preferred.
- Familiarity with autoclaves, sterilization monitoring, biological indicators, and chemical indicators preferred.
- Ambulatory Surgery Center or outpatient surgical experience preferred.
- Surgical Technologist certification preferred but not required unless otherwise required by facility policy.
- Sterile Processing certification such as CRCST or CSPDT preferred.
- Current BLS certification preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Dependable, flexible, and able to work collaboratively within a growing surgical team.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
