American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with 5+ years of experience and an active Hawaii RT license for a flexible-shift hospital position on the island of Kauai.

Hospital-based respiratory therapy unit
-
Patient population includes critically ill, pediatric, and neonatal patients
-
Cardiopulmonary modality with respiratory therapy sub-specialty
-
Flexible shift scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
-
13-week assignment

Active Hawaii Respiratory Therapist license required (license required if applicable)

Minimum 5 years of respiratory therapy experience

Current BLS/BCLS certification required

RRT or CRT credential (recognized by the National Board of Respiratory Care) required

Housing research is strongly recommended before applying, as this position is located on Kauai

Two-day orientation: Day 1 covers HR onboarding, safety, risk and quality management, and IT orientation (beginning at 10am); Day 2 focuses on EMR training

Responsibilities include initiating and managing mechanical ventilation (IMV, IDV, PEEP, CPAP, BiPAP), airway management, emergency intubation, and arterial punctures for blood gas analysis

Performs pulmonary function testing, chest physiotherapy, pulse oximetry monitoring, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and EEG electrode placement

Conducts patient and family education on respiratory treatments, breathing exercises, and disease management

Provides cardiopulmonary rehabilitation services including peak flow instruction, medication monitoring, and ABG interpretation

Performs polysomnography in sleep study settings

Participates in outpatient instruction at the hospital or in the home setting

Maintains equipment cleanliness and performs minor repairs and routine record keeping
