Position Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
Location: Stony Brook, NY
Duration: 13-week contract with possible extension
Work Schedule: 7 pm to 07:30 am (12 hours shift / 72 hours biweekly)
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (L&D) to join our team in an acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maternal and newborn care, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive care to laboring patients, including monitoring fetal development, assisting with delivery, and postpartum care.
- Perform nursing assessments, develop care plans, and collaborate with physicians, midwives, and healthcare teams.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and manage epidural and anesthesia care.
- Respond to obstetric emergencies and assist with C-sections, inductions, and other labor interventions.
- Educate patients and families on labor, postpartum, and newborn care.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation in Cerner Electronic Medical Records (preferred).
- Adhere to hospital protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum 2 year of Labor and Delivery RN experience is required.
- Must have the following certifications/licenses: BLS, ACLS, NRP, NY State Infection control certification
- Experience in arrhythmia telemetry interpretation and fetal monitoring education required.
- Must be able to provide 3 professional referenecs
- Must not have had a professional license or certification suspended or investigated.
- Must pass pre-employment health clearance, drug screening, and a criminal background check.
