Overview
The Classical Art Teacher cultivates students’ creativity, technical skill, and appreciation of artistic history through high-quality visual arts instruction grounded in Core Knowledge and the Classical Tradition. The teacher fosters a joyful, structured classroom environment that supports student growth, discipline, and artistic expression.
Duties
- Maintain a joyful, organized classroom that encourages creativity, focus, and respect
- Maintain discipline that fosters a safe, positive, and productive learning environment
- Deliver developmentally appropriate instruction in visual arts, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and foundational design principles
- Introduce students to art history and classical works, connecting artistic study to broader Core Knowledge content
- Plan and implement engaging lessons that build fine motor skills, visual literacy, and creative confidence
- Demonstrate empathy and understanding of students and attend all meetings related to additional student support
- Communicate professionally and regularly with students, families, and colleagues regarding student academic, artistic, and behavioral progress
- Attend and actively participate in department meetings and professional development, implementing effective instructional strategies
- Support and help organize student art displays and exhibitions
Education and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree for relevant subjects along with passing Praxis required
- Teaching experience in K-6 preferred
- Commitment to Core Knowledge and Classical Education
- Experience in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approach
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
