WildHeart Riding School is seeking a hands-on Barn Manager who takes pride in exceptional horse care, organization, and leadership. This is not a desk job. The ideal candidate will be actively involved in feeding, stall cleaning, turnout, horse health monitoring, facility upkeep, and managing the daily barn team.
We are looking for someone who notices details before they become problems, keeps high standards, and understands that horse welfare comes first.
ResponsibilitiesHorse Care
- Oversee the daily care of 30+ horses
- Monitor horse health, weight, hydration, soundness, and overall condition
- Administer medications and supplements as directed
- Coordinate veterinary, farrier, chiropractic, massage, and other care appointments
- Maintain accurate health and treatment records
- Identify injuries, lameness, behavioral changes, or health concerns early
Feeding & Nutrition
- Manage feeding schedules and ensure consistency
- Monitor hay, grain, supplements, and inventory levels
- Coordinate feed and hay deliveries
- Adjust feeding programs based on horse needs and management instructions
- Ensure horses maintain proper body condition
Barn & Facility Management
- Oversee stall cleaning and paddock maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of barns, tack rooms, feed rooms, and storage areas
- Ensure water troughs, buckets, fencing, gates, and shelters remain safe and functional
- Monitor facility appearance and presentation
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance projects as needed
Team Leadership
- Supervise barn staff and assistants
- Delegate daily tasks and hold team members accountable
- Train new team members on WildHeart standards
- Create and manage daily task lists
- Ensure tasks are completed correctly and on time
- Maintain a positive and professional work environment
Inventory & Operations
- Track feed, hay, bedding, medications, and supplies
- Maintain organized inventory systems
- Prevent waste and control costs
- Assist management with operational planning and budgeting
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of horse care and barn management experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of feeding programs, horse health, medications, and stable management
- Ability to recognize common equine health issues and emergencies
- Experience managing staff and leading teams
- Comfortable operating equipment and handling physically demanding work
- Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work outdoors in Florida weather
