The Construction/Electrical Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality instruction aligned with Alabama State Department of Education Career and Technical Education standards in the Construction and Electrical pathway. The instructor will prepare students for postsecondary education, apprenticeships, military service, and employment in high-demand construction and electrical occupations through rigorous classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experiences, industry credentialing opportunities, and work-based learning experiences.
The instructor shall establish and maintain a safe learning environment while fostering industry partnerships, supporting career readiness initiatives, and promoting student achievement through credential attainment and workforce preparation.
Promote literacy, mathematics, technology integration, and problem-solving skills within career and technical instruction.
Maintain tools, equipment, instructional materials, and facilities in accordance with district and industry standards.
Assist with career fairs, open houses, advisory committee meetings, and community outreach initiatives.
Valid Alabama Class B Career and Technical Education Certificate in Construction Technology, Electrical Technology, or a closely related field preferred.
Must meet Alabama State Department of Education requirements for Career and Technical Education certification, including but not limited to, background check, ACT WorkKeys testing, and industry specific proficiency exams.
Minimum of three (3) years of recent, verifiable occupational experience in construction, electrical systems, building trades, or a related field required.
Experience working with secondary students is preferred.
Experience with NCCER curriculum and credentialing preferred.
Knowledge of construction and electrical industry practices and safety standards.
Knowledge of NCCER curriculum and credentialing systems.
Ability to operate and maintain industry-standard tools and equipment.
Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
Ability to establish effective relationships with students, parents, business partners, and staff.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to utilize instructional technology and student data systems.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, lift, and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to demonstrate proper use of construction and electrical tools and equipment.
Ability to work in classroom, laboratory, and outdoor environments.
Ability to supervise students safely in laboratory and work-based learning settings.
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with Anniston City Schools policies, Alabama Teacher Effectiveness standards, CTE program requirements, student achievement outcomes, industry credential attainment, program growth, work-based learning participation, and overall job performance.
