Position Summary
The Accountant is responsible for supporting financial reporting, audit preparation, and general accounting functions. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation of financial activities while collaborating with internal teams and external auditors. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a detail-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare complex audit working papers for the Office of Accounting (ACCT) and serve as a liaison with external auditors during audit engagements.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Maintain a working knowledge of current accounting trends, policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive files for all assignments, including contracts, agreements, and other signed or confidential documentation.
- Ensure proper recordkeeping and documentation in compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Support financial analysis, reconciliations, and reporting activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency within accounting operations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Experience in preparing audit documentation and working with auditors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment

Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of professional-level accounting or financial management experience in government, commercial, or public accounting.
