Kitchen & Lunch Service Coordinator

Lineage Meals is a small family-owned business providing organic, nose to tail, scratch-made daily school lunches to children in San Diego. We are seeking a dependable, organized, and positive team member to help prepare, transport, and serve lunches at a local school.
This is an ideal position for someone who gets excited to cook new recipes daily, wants to expand on their skills, and is passionate about nutrition, community, and meaningful work in a mission-driven environment.
Schedule
- Monday - Thursday
- Approximately 9AM- 2PM
- 18-20 hours per week
Responsibilities
- Assist with kitchen prep, cooking, and clean up, ensuring high-quality food standards.
- Perform food handling duties in accordance with safety and hygiene regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces.
- Prepare ingredients by chopping, slicing, and measuring as directed by chefs.
- Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and assisting in ordering supplies as needed.
- Follow all food safety protocols to ensure the health and safety of both staff and customers.
- Support setup and breakdown, including packing for school lunch delivery.
- Set up lunch service and plate food
- Check students in and assist with meal distribution
- Help maintain an organized and efficient serving line

- Reliable and punctual

- Good attention to detail and ability to take direction
- Strong cooking skills with an emphasis on knife skills and meal preparation techniques.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure.
- A passion for the organic, high-quality food and eagerness to learn from an experienced chef is highly valued.
- Comfortable working on your feet and handling physical tasks
- Lift and transport bins and supplies (up to 30 lbs)
- Has a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Food Service Experience
Food service, catering, or restaurant experience is required. School or hospitality experience a plus.

About the Chef and the Opportunity
I grew up in New England and have been cooking my whole life, and professionally for 30 years. Growing up in Massachusetts, I had the chance to experience many international cuisines adapted by recent immigrants from their respective countries. They weren't always exactly the same as the recipes back home, but they were just as popular if not more so here. Many of those dishes were served in restaurants all over the country, and even in school cafeterias.
I'm trying to bring that back through a highly elevated approach, melding fan favorites with lesser-known dishes that share similar flavor profiles while using as many cuts of the animals I purchase as possible and minimizing waste.
You'll be able to learn from me personally while we work side by side in the kitchen. I've worked with some of the best chefs in the country and everywhere from airport kitchens to luxury hotels, from James Beard Award-winning chefs to short-lived pop-ups inside craft beer stores.
I love sharing my knowledge and teaching those willing to learn, grow, and push for better.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
