Keith Zars Pools (KZP) is hiring a Senior Developer. KZP runs its business on a homegrown line-of-business application backed by SQL Server, alongside a fleet of internal desktop and reporting applications, a growing set of internal web applications, and a mobile app. Our web and mobile front-end work spans Vue, Framework7, and Flutter. We manage our Windows desktops and servers with PowerShell. We're bringing development in-house and consolidating this work into a single senior engineering role reporting to the IT Director.
We hire for coding ability and judgment first — the stack is learnable — but Windows-centric development is preferred, and Windows Server and desktop management are a plus. We use modern development tooling, including AI-assisted tools, day to day.
What you'll do
- Pair with the IT Director on the modernization roadmap — write code, review code, and own pieces of it as trust is earned.
- Maintain and triage our legacy VB.NET desktop application fleet. Keep it running, and pull pieces forward into modern web replacements as they come online.
- Build and maintain our internal web and mobile applications.
- Own integration work between SQL Server, accounting systems, supplier systems, and internal tooling.
- Provide emergency support for the production database application when it's needed.
- Backstop desktop support during high-volume weeks — new-hire setups, VPN, Microsoft 365 administration, printers.
- Manage vendor escalations with clear, written communication.
What we're looking for
- Comfortable reading and writing across the Microsoft language set — C#, T-SQL, PowerShell, and VB.NET — with real fluency in at least one.
- You read code confidently, including in unfamiliar codebases, and spot plausible-looking-but-wrong output before it reaches production.
- You turn vague business asks into concrete, written plans, break them into tractable steps, and ship without hand-holding.
Platform fluency
A working grounding across several of these, with real depth in some:
- Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration
- IIS on Windows Server
- SQL Server administration
- Azure / Entra ID and certificate management
Nice to have
- Experience modernizing legacy desktop and database codebases
- PowerShell automation against business productivity systems
- Experience integrating systems via APIs
- Open-source contributions or a real personal project portfolio

- Location: On-site primary, with remote flexibility earned over time
