JOB
Supervises inmates (working trusties) to perform a variety of duties to keep the facilities clean and sanitary (excluding dorms). May include one or more of the following: maintenance tasks, cleaning surfaces, bathrooms, trash removal, and sweeping, mopping, waxing, and buffing tile surface floors; vacuuming carpet. Maintains inventory and provides work tracking reports as required.

Knowledge of the facility layout including location of sally port controls, cell locks, control panels, secure perimeters, and emergency and safety equipment commonly used in a secure facility.

Knowledge of how to search/inspect for and recognize contraband/weapons or unauthorized activities.

Skilled in searching/inspecting materials and facilities for contraband/weapons and unauthorized activities.

Skilled in operating communication devices including telephones, radios, and intercoms.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Requires prolonged standing and walking, some bending, stooping, and stretching.

Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight.

Visual perception and discrimination including color perception is required.

Must possess hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to use hands and arms to finger, handle, grasp and feel; climb stairs; and operate computers, tools and any other equipment that is used to perform the essential functions of the job.

Ability to occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry equipment, tools, supplies and other materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

Ability to raise objects in an upward movement, or moving objects from position to position at the same level. The weight of the object being lifted or moved is described as medium (21 to 50 pounds). The vertical lifting requirement ranges between 12 and 36 inches.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Valid Florida driver license required.
Medical screening required prior to appointment.
