A Commercial Kitchen Equipment Repair Technician diagnoses, installs, repairs, and maintains restaurant appliances such as ovens, refrigerators, fryers, and dishwashers. Key requirements include technical proficiency in electricity, plumbing, or HVAC, a valid driver's license, and strong troubleshooting skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot and fix commercial cooking, refrigeration, and warewashing equipment.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and maintenance on HVAC units, fryers, and refrigeration to prevent breakdowns.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of repairs, parts inventory, and service reports.
- Customer Service: Communicate with restaurant management regarding repair status and provide service updates.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to OSHA and safety regulations.
Job Requirements
- Technical Skills: Experience with electrical, refrigeration (HVAC), or gas systems.
- Tools: Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeter).
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift over 50 lbs and work in tight or hot/cold spaces.
- Licenses & Experience: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and typically 1-5+ years of experience.
- Certifications: CFESA (Commercial Food Equipment Service Association) or NATE certifications are often preferred.
