Position: Systems Business Analyst in Counterparty Credit Risk & Exposure Management
Duration: 12+ Months (Extendable contract)
Location: HYBRID - NYC, NY
HYBRID: Must be able to work ONSITE 2 day per week (LOCAL CANDIDATES only!!)

About the Opportunity:
We are a leading global technology solution and professional staffing firm partnering with one of the world s largest Japanese securities corporations to identify a high-caliber Senior Technical Business Analyst.
This is an ownership role designed for a systems professional who bridges the gap between complex risk methodologies and robust system architecture. Operating within our client's Credit Risk Technology division, you will drive platform enhancements, spearhead hands-on root cause analysis for high-severity production incidents, and lead technology operations engagements for critical regulatory and internal audits.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Analysis & Application Support:
- Requirement Engineering: Partner with Front Office, Exposure Management, Risk Analytics, and technology teams to document business, functional, and technical specifications for critical core applications.
- Platform Delivery: Translate trading and risk needs into precise process flows, user stories, data mapping matrixes, and comprehensive test scenarios to support platform upgrades.
- Technical Interface: Act as the primary liaison between risk managers and global engineering teams to ensure Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR) priorities are properly engineered and delivered.
Production Operations & Incident Management
- Incident Ownership: Serve as the technical point of contact for high-severity production incidents impacting risk analytics, exposure reporting, limit breaches, and regulatory deliverables.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Drive hands-on investigative data engineering to eliminate calculation breaks and validation errors, replacing short-term workarounds with permanent system fixes.
- Reliability & Resilience: Identify opportunities for automation and "self-healing" batch processes. Partner with Infrastructure teams to improve system observability, alerting, and annual DR/BCP (Disaster Recovery) readiness.
Governance, Risk & Audit Controls
- Audit & Compliance Lead: Directly lead IT Operations engagement for internal audits, regulatory exams, and model governance reviews to demonstrate control maturity.
- Change Governance: Enforce robust change and release frameworks aligned with CAB, DevOps, CI/CD, and data integrity control standards.
Required Qualifications
- Seniority: 12+ years of experience performing as a Technical Business Analyst or System BA within Financial Services Technology.
- Domain Focus: Proven track record supporting core Risk, Exposure Management, or related front-office/risk systems in a highly regulated banking or capital markets environment.
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
Technical & Domain Expertise
- Risk Methodologies: Deep functional grasp of Counterparty Credit Risk concepts, including derivative trade lifecycles, market data, PFE, EPE, collateral/margin processing, limit monitoring, stress testing, and what-if pre-trade intraday analysis.
- Data Capabilities: Strong proficiency working alongside developers on complex SQL, relational database analysis, interface mapping, ETL workflows, and upstream/downstream system dependencies.
- Tooling: Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, SQL, and enterprise data visualization or logging utilities used to track system metrics and delivery.

- Advanced problem-solving mindset capable of breaking down highly complex production architecture into clear, actionable requirements.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to navigate alignment across global, distributed engineering teams and high-pressure stakeholders.
