Detail Cleaner

Job Description:
The St. George Children’s Museum is seeking a dedicated and thorough Detail Cleaner to join our team! This role focuses on deep cleaning and keeping our museum’s child-centered spaces safe, tidy, and welcoming for families. This is a part-time position of approximately 25 hours per week. Cleaning must take place during evening hours when the museum is closed. Closing times vary by season and may change during special events, but evening shifts will always occur after the final guests have left the building. You may break up your shifts however you prefer, as long as the required weekly work is completed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed cleaning and sanitation in exhibit rooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and high-touch areas.
- Remove fingerprints, smudges, marks, and dust from surfaces, props, and displays.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and maintain flooring and surfaces.
- Operate shampooing equipment.
- Safely handle cleaning chemicals according to museum guidelines.
- Use a ladder to clean shelves, vents, windows, and elevated exhibit components.
- Communicate any maintenance issues to the Facilities & Exhibits Director.
- Work independently with consistent quality and strong attention to detail.
- Work comfortably alone in an empty building during after-hours cleaning.
Qualifications
- At least 6 months of custodial or cleaning experience, preferably in public or high-use environments.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in child-centered spaces.
- Knowledge of cleaning products and safe usage.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
- Basic verbal communication skills for coordination with staff.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Education & Physical Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Regular standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and climbing.
- Comfortable using a ladder.
- Exposure to cleaning solutions and dust may occur.
