Manufacturing Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for electrical control systems and related products. This role works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams to improve manufacturability, support CNC programming, develop tooling, and maintain manufacturing documentation.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving technical challenges, improving production efficiency, and collaborating across departments to support high-quality manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Engineering
- Develop and maintain manufacturing bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and production documentation within the company's ERP system.
- Create, modify, and support CNC programs for fabrication equipment, including sheet metal manufacturing machinery.
- Design tooling, fixtures, and production aids to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
- Define and document manufacturing methods, work instructions, and production processes.
- Review engineering changes and update manufacturing documentation to ensure production accuracy.
- Participate in the review and resolution of nonconforming products while implementing required manufacturing updates.
- Evaluate and recommend manufacturing equipment, tooling, and process improvements to support production and safety objectives.
Production Support
- Partner with manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot production issues and implement practical solutions.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Assist with production routing improvements, tooling selection, and raw material recommendations.
- Support make-versus-buy evaluations by providing manufacturing expertise during sourcing decisions.
- Provide technical support for estimating, quotations, and customer-related manufacturing inquiries when needed.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and increase product quality.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Recommend new technologies, automation opportunities, and process enhancements.
- Assist with the development and training of manufacturing engineering personnel and support knowledge sharing across the team.
- Perform additional engineering responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience using CAD software; SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software preferred.
- Experience maintaining manufacturing bills of materials, routings, and ERP systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
- Ability to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally, as business needs require.
Preferred
- Experience supporting sheet metal fabrication or electrical control panel manufacturing.
- Familiarity with CNC programming for fabrication equipment.
- Knowledge of ISO quality systems and Lean Manufacturing principles such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, or Kanban.
- Experience developing manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and quality procedures.
Technical Skills
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and manufacturing specifications.
- Experience creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation, including work instructions and routing information.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve manufacturing and production issues.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and Windows-based software applications.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, production personnel, engineering teams, and internal customers.
Work Environment
- Combination of office and manufacturing floor responsibilities.
- Regular interaction with production personnel to support manufacturing operations and resolve technical issues.
- Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in production areas.
- Occasional travel to supplier locations for process reviews, audits, or equipment evaluations.
