The job of Van Driver is done for the purpose of transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from vans.
Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior; assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations; assists students and other passengers; attends meetings, trainings, etc.; cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior; conducts emergency evacuation drills; drives school van/s; fuels assigned vehicle, (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.); performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.); prepares documents and reports, (e.g. field trip reports, incident reports, inspections records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc.); reports observations and/or incidents, (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.); responds to inquires, (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.); supervises students and other passengers during transit; assists other personnel as may be required.
Qualifications: Experience desired. Alcohol and Drug Test; Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance; Random Drug Testing; Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
25 - 40 hours depending on route.
This is a 10-month position only.
