Job Overview
We're a family-run Ethiopian cafe in downtown Minneapolis serving espresso drinks, traditional Ethiopian coffee, pastries, and a short breakfast and lunch menu.

Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide attentive service to ensure a positive experience from start to finish
- Prepare a variety of non-alcoholic beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks, following established recipes and standards
- Operate POS systems to process retail sales transactions accurately and efficiently
- Handle cash, credit card payments, and process cash transactions with precision while maintaining proper cash handling procedures
- Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including food handling stations, beverage prep areas, and seating spaces, adhering to food safety standards
- Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, ensuring quality and presentation meet company guidelines
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to serve customers promptly while maintaining high service standards
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service or café environments is highly preferred, especially with barista roles involving beverage preparation and serving
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse customers
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and transaction processing
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely service during peak hours
- Prior experience with coffee or beverage service is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate
