JPI Construction is seeking a Field Engineer to support the successful execution of construction projects by serving as a key technical resource in the field. This position works closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure construction activities are performed according to project plans, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a dynamic construction environment where priorities can change quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Support field layout, measurements, and verification of construction activities based on project drawings and specifications.
- Assist the Superintendent and Project Manager with construction sequencing, coordination, and daily field operations.
- Perform quality control inspections and help ensure work complies with project requirements.
- Prepare and maintain daily field reports, photo logs, as-built documentation, and production records.
- Coordinate communication between the field and office regarding technical updates, changes, and project issues.
- Communicate project scope, details, and updates to subcontractors and field personnel.
- Assist with material deliveries, storage, installation verification, and material tracking.
- Monitor field activities for compliance with established safety requirements in coordination with site safety personnel.
- Identify field issues and promptly communicate concerns, providing practical solutions or corrective actions when appropriate.
- Support punch list activities and project closeout documentation.
- Perform other field and project-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience in construction or field-based roles; relevant internships may be considered.
- Knowledge of construction documents, blueprints, specifications, and field procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management or field reporting software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and field crews.
- Ability to work outdoors and adapt to changing site conditions and project demands.
- OSHA 10-Hour certification required or ability to obtain.
