A rewarding full-time contract opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher in a Pre-K setting, serving children ages 3-5 with diverse needs. The assignment runs from August 4th, 2026, to May 21st, 2027, with a 37.5-hour workweek. This role focuses on providing direct support and specialized instruction to young learners, many of whom are non-verbal or have limited verbal skills, require assistance with toileting and feeding, and may display a range of behaviors.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid GaPSC Teaching Certificate with endorsements in both Special and General Education for Pre-K age groups
- Previous experience in early childhood Special Education
- Comfort assisting children with toileting/diapering and feeding
- Ability to employ evidence-based practices for non-verbal or minimally verbal students
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach with families and other educators
- Patience, adaptability, and a passion for supporting children with developmental and behavioral needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to Pre-K students in a structured, nurturing environment
- Implement IEPs and collaborate with related service providers
- Assist with daily living activities, including toileting/diapering and feeding as necessary
- Utilize augmentative communication strategies and behavior support plans
- Document student progress and communicate regularly with families and staff
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere
