2nd Shift Fabrication Team Lead (Climate Controlled Environment)
Shift Differential = $0.75
2:00 PM - 10:00 PM - Monday - Friday
Must be able to work weekday overtime (2 PM - midnight)
Must be able to work weekends as needed
Position Summary:
The Fabrication Team Lead is responsible for supporting daily fabrication and production activities during second shift across all shop areas, including build, fabrication, laser table, plasma table, spiral machine, coil line, water jet, welding, and loading. This role serves as the lead point of contact for the shift, helping coordinate workflow, ensuring quality standards are met, promoting safe work practices, and assisting team members in meeting production goals. The Team Lead works alongside the fabrication team while providing guidance, training, and support to maintain a productive and organized work environment.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
Production & Operations

Coordinate daily work assignments and workflow to support production schedules and on-time completion of orders.

Assist team members in reading, interpreting, and following product specifications, drawings, and work instructions.

Support fabrication activities including cutting, shaping, bending, assembling, welding, and finishing sheet metal components.

Monitor production progress and communicate any delays, material shortages, equipment issues, or quality concerns to the Fabrication Supervisor.

Ensure materials are properly staged, organized, and available to support production requirements.

Verify product quality and accuracy throughout the fabrication process.

Assist with loading, securing, and staging finished products for shipment.

Perform fabrication duties as needed to support production demands.
Team Leadership

Serve as the primary shift resource for fabrication employees during second shift operations.

Provide guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to team members.

Help coordinate work priorities and balance labor across fabrication areas based on production needs.

Promote teamwork, accountability, and effective communication among employees.

Lead by example through safe work practices, quality workmanship, attendance, and professionalism.

Communicate employee concerns, performance issues, and training needs to the Fabrication Supervisor.

Assist with onboarding and training new employees.
Safety, Quality & Organization

Promote compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.

Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

Identify and report safety hazards, equipment concerns, and quality issues.

Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, productivity, and organization.

Ensure established quality standards are consistently followed throughout the fabrication process.
Communication & Coordination

Communicate production status, priorities, and concerns to the Fabrication Supervisor and other departments as needed.

Coordinate with scheduling, shipping, and other production teams to support operational objectives.

Assist in shift turnover communication to ensure a smooth transition between shifts.

Maintain accurate production and workflow information as required.
Other Duties

Requirements:
Qualifications:

Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and manufacturing operations.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings, and production documents.

Strong basic math skills.

Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure to 1/8-inch increments.

Prior experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, or production environment required.

Previous lead, trainer, or informal leadership experience preferred.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to support production requirements.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods

Ability to safely operate equipment and tools in a production environment

Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and perform physical labor for extended periods.

Work in varying environments including hot, cold, or noisy conditions.

Use of PPE and adherence to all safety standards required.
