The Columbus Botanical Garden Shine event began to attract, educate, and INSPIRE visitors
through the holiday season. Every year, the garden has tried to outdo the previous display and
is constantly adding new elements. Shine has consistently been one of the busiest parts of the
year, bringing in thousands of guests, and remains a Columbus staple for the holiday season.
The Garden is now hiring for the light hanging crew to continue this tradition. This position is a
Full-time seasonal role. The bulk of this work will be carried out from August 2026 through
January 2027.
Pay ranges from $15-$20 per hour, contingent on experience, and reports directly to
the director of events.
Responsibilities/duties include, but are not limited to:
- Testing and hanging holiday lighting from ground level.
Working with Supervisors and volunteers to meet design standards.
Observing operations, basic troubleshooting, and maintaining displays.
Event set up and tear down.
- Removing lights and displays at the conclusion of Shine
- Other tasks as assigned.
Key details for this position:
- Employment is considered seasonal/ non-benefited; Variable hours not to exceed
an annual average of 40 hours per week.
- This is an outdoor, physical job. Candidates should be prepared to work in all
weather conditions.
- The job includes standing, walking, bending, climbing, and moving containers,
without accommodation.
- The job will require work at elevated heights, so the person in this role must be
comfortable with these tasks.
- Evening availability is required.
- To be considered, the candidate must be at least 18 years of age or older.
