The Development Manager, in collaboration with key team members, manages many of Transhealth’s fundraising initiatives, with a focus on donor engagement and cultivation. Transhealth has a goal of raising $1M+ in 2026 to support the delivery of gender-affirming healthcare, as well as community services, education, and advocacy to uplift the overall health and well-being of transgender and gender-diverse communities. The Development Manager reports to the Vice President of Development and External Affairs. This position is a salaried (exempt), full-time, and non-union due to manager status.

Objectives and Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development, implementation, and assessment of Transhealth’s fundraising strategy, core messaging, and annual fundraising plan and corresponding annual development calendar in collaboration with the VP of Development and External Affairs and key team members, ensuring alignment with overarching organizational values and goals
- Works diligently with key team members to meet annual fundraising plan goals and assure integration with other departmental calendars/plans, especially those developed by the Communications and Community Support and Engagement Teams
- Plays a leadership role in the design, marketing, and implementation of fundraising events in collaboration with key team players
- Participates actively in donor engagement and communications, including:
- Implementing Transhealth’s donation acknowledgement policies
- Participating in and/or scheduling meetings with donors and VP of Development and External Affairs
- Representing Transhealth at public-facing events through interpersonal communication and public speaking
- Co-writing, editing, and reviewing public remarks as necessary
- Updating grantors on how their grant funds are being utilized and the impact of their support (completing reports, as necessary)
- Creates and executes a cultivation plan and tracking system for high-level donors, as well as identification and stewardship of new potential high-level donors in collaboration with the VP of Development and External Affairs
- Leads the development, production, and distribution of fundraising print, digital, and web collateral and campaigns, including the annual impact report, in collaboration with the Communications Team
- Guides all aspects of Transhealth’s Development Advisory Board, including communication, coordination of meetings, Board initiatives, and maintenance of Board records
- Manages two annual appeal processes (spring and end-of-calendar-year) in collaboration with the Communications Team
- Manages the development and implementation of all development campaigns in collaboration with the VP of Development and External Affairs and the Communications Team
- Manages donor/donation records in Transhealth’s donor database / CRM (Little Green Light) in collaboration with our Finance Team, ensuring data accuracy, confidentiality, integrity, and security, pulling reports as required, and using insights from donor data to inform role- and department-level decisions
- Stays current on development trends and legislation that are likely to affect organizational funding
- Supports grant-seeking activities led by the VP of Development and External Affairs, including researching funding opportunities, (co)writing and editing proposals, developing reports; and corresponding with foundations, corporations, and government agencies, as required
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience with and commitment to trans and gender-diverse communities
- 2-4 years’ experience in fundraising, public relations, sales, or related experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience or education
- Communication Skills: Excellent writing and editing skills, and verbal communication skills
- Digital Savvy: Knowledge of/experience with Google Suite, donor databases / CRMs (Little Green Light experience preferred, but not required); comfortability with both inputting data and extracting data to produce various reports and/or insights; experience with content management systems a plus
- Organization and Time Management: Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, and ability to maintain exceptional attention to detail, and prioritize and manage multiple, concurrent tasks and sometimes shifting deadlines
- Event Management Skills: Experience planning and executing mid- to large-sized events for a wide variety of audiences; fundraising event experience preferred, but not required
- Reliability: Ability to consistently perform duties to a high standard, show up on time, meet deadlines, be accountable, and be trustworthy
- Team Player: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and across different departments
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced and evolving organization

- Professionalism: Maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in handling sensitive information, has experience with donor relationship management, and has the ability to “work the room”
- “Customer Service” Orientation: Comfortability engaging with a wide range of constituents, including trans, gender-diverse, and BIPOC community members
- Sense of humor a plus
Working Conditions
- Requires occasional work hours on weekends or evenings
- Hybrid role with occasional travel across the state for events or program coordination; reliable transportation is required
