Francison Consulting, Inc., is seeking an Inspector, Electrical / Information Technology (IT) to support Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Quality Assurance and Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within the LAWA Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The Electrical / IT Inspector is responsible for inspecting electrical and information technology installations, verifying compliance with applicable codes, contract documents, and LAWA standards, documenting field activities, and supporting construction quality assurance.
Professional Experience Level/Minimum Qualifications
- Electrical/IT inspection staff shall have 3 years or more experience performing electrical/IT inspections for Building Construction.
- Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector.
- Proof of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E standards training within the last 3 years.
- Proof of California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal OSHA) 30 hr. training within the last 4 years.
- Training & knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70, 70E, & 72.
- Fall protection and harness training.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Experience at the journey level as an electrician, with a focus on the installation and repair of electrical systems in public works, institutional, commercial, or industrial settings.
- Experience overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects.
- Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and city officials.
- Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies, ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards.
- Must be open to learning the prescriptive items required by the agency.
- A strong understanding of diverse code requirements.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
Education/Training
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
Essential Job Duties
- Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of electrical and IT systems across building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications, review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings, submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and change orders.
- Demonstrates strong proficiency in preparing comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly document the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all observed construction activities, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and accountability in tracking progress and identifying issues, deficiencies, or safety concerns in a timely manner.
- Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes (e.g., National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70, 70E, 72) and LAWA specific standards.
- Track and document time and material work, field changes, and job quantities.
- Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values.
- Support special inspections and testing activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and third party agencies as needed.
Perform inspections of electrical installations including, but not limited to:
- Underground utilities and duct banks.
- High voltage switchgear and electrical panels.
- Conduit racks, conductors, and grounding systems.
- Interior and exterior lighting systems.
- Fire life safety systems including smoke/heat detectors and FM 200 suppression systems.
- Electrical shutdowns, lockout/tagout procedures, and breaker coordination.
Inspect Information Technology (IT) infrastructure installations such as:
- Low voltage systems (voice/data, security, access control).
- Door card readers, security cameras, and public address (P.A.) systems.
- Communication cabling and equipment rooms.
Hardware/Software Knowledge
- Knowledge of Project Management Information Software (PMIS) used for inspection/document control (i.e., Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PM Web, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently, including change orders, submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and other inspection documents, with minimal supervision.
Work Schedule: TBD
Typical schedules include:
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Night Shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Sunday, if applicable to the project.

Pay: $160,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
