Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Female Only
Location: Bethel, CT
Butler Rescue Hands, Inc. is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dependable Female Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to an individual with autism in the Bethel, CT area.
This position is ideal for someone who has extensive hands-on experience supporting individuals on the autism spectrum and understands the importance of consistency, structure, patience, and person-centered care.
Requirements:
- Female applicants only (client preference).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Experience supporting individuals with feeding challenges and eating disorders is required.
- Knowledge of Connecticut DDS guidelines, documentation, and best practices.
- Current CPR Certification is required.
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and clean driving record are required.
- Must be willing and able to transport the individual safely to community activities, appointments, and recreational outings.
- Clean criminal background check.
- Professional, dependable, and committed to providing high-quality support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience implementing behavioral support strategies.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and adaptable in various situations.
- Experience encouraging independence while maintaining dignity and respect.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one community and in-home support.
- Promote independence while ensuring health and safety.
- Assist with daily routines and activities of daily living as needed.
- Support participation in recreational, educational, and social activities.
- Follow individualized support plans and behavioral strategies.
- Monitor meals and provide appropriate support during eating as directed by the care plan.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in accordance with DDS requirements.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, family members, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment at all times.
