Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers to ensure efficient patient care and smooth daily operations of the medical office. This role involves direct patient interaction, assisting with examinations, performing basic clinical tasks, and handling clerical duties.
Clinical Duties
- Performs under S.D.O.’s and clinic protocols
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during medical procedures
- Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight)
- Document patient information and medical history accurately in the medical record
- Administer injections and medications as directed by the provider
- Perform basic lab procedures such as EKGs, and specimen collection
- Prepare and sterilize medical instruments and exam rooms
- Provide patient education and instructions as directed
- Assist with wound care, dressing changes, and other clinical procedures
- Document patient file as required.
- Follows up on patient scheduling and referrals.
- Ensures that patients receive quality health care, counseling/education, and preventative services/screenings in accordance with the clinic and DSHS/PHC/Grant requirements.
- Ensures that the clinic’s goals and objectives as they relate to these and to identified health indicators are addressed.
- Other duties as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
- CPR certification preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred
