Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Designer with 5+ yrs. of experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the design and development of electrical systems for various projects, including UL 891 switchboards, UL 1008 transfer switches, UL 414 metering enclosures, UL 508A control panels, and medium-voltage metal-clad switchgear — using Autodesk tools like AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
Duties
- Design Electrical Systems
o Develop electrical system designs for a variety of projects.
o Produce accurate drawings, schematics, and layouts using AutoCAD.
o Ensure designs comply with UL, NEC, IEC, and other relevant standards.
- Select & Specify Components
o Choose components such as breakers, transformers, and switches that
meet project specs.
o Collaborate with vendors to verify technical details and optimize
selections.
o Analyze and refine designs to enhance efficiency, reliability, and cost-
effectiveness.
o Stay current with industry trends to integrate the latest technologies.
o Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams for
seamless project integration.
o Support sales with technical expertise and assist customers with
troubleshooting, startup, and warranty issues.
o Participate in design reviews, prototype testing, and troubleshooting.
o Partner with the test team to validate and prove designs.
o Prepare clear design documentation, reports, and project updates.
o Maintain accurate records of revisions, as-builts, and production markups.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s in electrical engineering (preferred, not required)
- Experience:
o Proven track record in electrical design with strong AutoCAD skills.
o Knowledge of UL standards, NEC codes, and electrical design best
practices.
o Familiarity with 2D/3D CAD tools; AutoCAD Electrical experience is a plus.
o Ability to interpret technical specs and engineering drawings.
o Strong problem-solving mindset with keen attention to detail.
o Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
o Experience with Revit, Inventor, or similar design software.
o Background in electrical project management.
