Job Description
Shepherd Elder Law Group is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our attorneys and legal team in providing exceptional service to older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their families. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and work well independently as well as part of a team. This is an entry level position.
This position plays a vital role in ensuring a positive client experience while assisting with the preparation, management, and coordination of legal matters related to estate planning, elder law, probate, trust administration, guardianship, Medicaid, and long-term care planning.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and paralegals.
- Prepare, revise, proofread, and finalize legal documents and correspondence.
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, family members, financial advisors, healthcare professionals, and other third parties.
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical client files.
- Assist with gathering client information and documentation needed for legal matters.
- Coordinate document execution and follow-up with clients as needed.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and client communications.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of client records and our case management system.
- Perform other administrative and legal support duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a legal assistant, administrative assistant, or similar support role.
- Strong attention to detail the ability to be well-organized.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Professional demeanor and commitment to client service.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.Preferred
- Experience in elder law, estate planning, probate, trust administration, or related practice areas.
- Familiarity with legal case management and document management software. Experience with Clio is a plus.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (four-year) or associate degree (two-year) from an accredited college or university required.
