Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and highly organized Trucking Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the daily movement of freight across our transportation network. In this vital role, you will serve as the central communication hub, ensuring seamless scheduling, routing, and dispatching of trucks to meet delivery deadlines while maintaining compliance with all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and assign freight shipments to drivers using our system.
- Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure timely deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, carriers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and internal communication platforms.
- Manage phone call inquiries related to freight status, scheduling adjustments, or customer concerns with professionalism and courtesy.
- Maintain accurate data entry records for shipments, driver logs, and delivery documentation while ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
- Oversee shipping & receiving schedules, freight documentation, and fleet management activities to streamline operations.
- Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings within road transportation operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dispatching within logistics or transportation planning environments.
- Familiarity with supply chain processes, freight handling, shipping & receiving procedures, and fleet management principles.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a high-pressure setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word for reporting and data analysis.
- Effective communication skills with phone etiquette expertise for managing multi-line phone systems and internal communication channels.
- Understanding of DOT regulations governing road transportation operations to ensure compliance at all times.
- Ability to perform data entry accurately while maintaining attention to detail in fast-paced situations.
- Strong analysis skills for evaluating logistics performance metrics and identifying process improvements.
