JOB SUMMARY
To provide material for production machines. To ensure material is ready for use through drying, grinding and delivering to molding machines in a timely fashion. Support Shipping and Receiving by mixing resins and dyes, staging materials, loading, unloading and moving materials within the plant.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from floor to waist high and up to 50 pounds overhead as often as required. Must be able to walk without assistance. Must be able to use hand tools which may require repetitive motion. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must pass basic math skills test. Must be able to operate a fork lift and pallet jack. Requires standing, bending and climbing up to 100% of the time.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Make sure proper material is being used at all times for each machine. Plan timely staging and drying of material. Load machines with material if required. Ensure all material hoppers and containers are properly covered at all times. Ensure there is enough material for all jobs continuing at change of shift. Never let a molding machine run out of material.
- Make sure all hoppers, dryers, grinders and material containers are properly labeled. Load dryers and monitor dryer performance. Regularly Check, clean or replace if needed, canisters on the portable dryers. Keep dryer filled to above top of sight glass. Dryer lids must always be latched and make sure dryer temperature is at set point.
- Read and follow the Job Instruction Manuals (JIM). Use the JIM to determine the proper material, mix, and drying requirements for a job.
- Know how vacuum loaders and grinders work and make sure that they are working properly where used. Make sure that they are all properly labeled Grind runners from yellow drums and know the barrel system for runners and rejects. Make sure that all parts/runners that need to be ground are done before the grinder is cleaned.
- Properly clean out hoppers, dryers, loaders and grinders whenever required by a material change-over or at the direction of the shift coordinator.
- Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves. Attach identifying tags or labels to materials. Convey materials from storage to work sites or designated area, using handtruck, dolly, forklift, or other device.
- Know the work order system and CMC numbering system for materials. Maintain record of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet. All raw materials being checked to a job must appear on Material Handler Log sheets, including weight, proper CMC#, lot#, date and time. This information must match the work order as well. Document material that is returned to return area during your shift.
- Remove finished goods, boxes and gaylords from production floor to warehouse staging area as needed. Remove unused material containers and grinders from presses. Containers and grinders must be emptied and cleaned before storing.
- Keep the dryer, staging, color, tumbler area and material area clean and orderly. Keep all production and material control areas clean and in order.
- Keep Shift Coordinator advised of condition of all material handling equipment: dryers, tumbler, grinders, hoppers, buckets, barrels, magnets in hopper, etc.
- Continually evaluate equipment and suggest improvements.
- Assist setup personnel if necessary.
- Make any mixes needed for jobs running or upcoming jobs as assigned by Shift Coordinator.
- Insure materials and supplies are used in such a way as to keep waste to a minimum.
Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by Shift Coordinator.
Position available is for swing shift - 3pm to 11:30pm Monday thru Friday.
