Compensation: $25-$35/hr, full-time, non-exempt (approx. $52,000–$72,800 annually), depending on experience.

Who are we looking for?
Welch Comer Engineers is looking for an HR & Administrative Coordinator to join our administration team. This is a versatile role for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats at a small firm. You will be the day-to-day point of contact for HR operations: recruitment coordination, onboarding, benefits administration, and personnel records, while also supporting our administrative and finance teams. The role reports directly to a firm Vice President, with specialized HR matters supported by outside advisors.
The ideal candidate has:
- 3+ years of experience in human resources, office administration, or a related support role.
- An associate or bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field (preferred, not required; relevant experience counts).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail across multiple concurrent responsibilities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Sound judgment and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Comfort with software and systems; experience with HRIS, payroll, or ERP platforms (such as Deltek Vantagepoint) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Idaho and/or Washington employment practices is a plus.

HR operations (primary focus):
- Coordinate recruitment: post openings, screen applications, schedule interviews, track candidates, and monitor recruitment effectiveness.
- Administer new employee onboarding and orientation.
- Process employee separations and offboarding.
- Coordinate benefits open enrollment, changes, and employee benefits communications.
- Maintain employee personnel records and position descriptions.
- Create and distribute internal communications regarding status changes, benefits, and company policies.
- Coordinate employee rewards, recognition, and appreciation events and activities.
- Maintain the firm's HR compliance calendar (postings, reporting deadlines, training requirements) in coordination with firm leadership and outside HR/legal advisors.
- Support 401(k) and ESOP communications.
Administrative and finance support:
- Provide administrative support to the executive team, including scheduling, correspondence, and meeting coordination.
- Assist the finance team with accounts payable/receivable processing, expense report processing, and records support.
- Support special projects assigned by the supervising Vice President.

You will work in person at either of Welch Comer's offices: Coeur d'Alene, ID or our Liberty Lake, WA office.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:
- This position is full-time, in person (not remote). Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- This position is hourly, non-exempt, and eligible for overtime. Some extended hours may occasionally be required to meet deadlines.
- This position requires a driver's license, access to a car, and proof of personal vehicle insurance.
