Clinical Associate — Polestar Therapy Hybrid | Amherst, MA
The Role
We are seeking a Clinical Associate to join our group private practice. You will work with clients whose struggles are shaped by experiences of othering, identity-based stress, and the cumulative weight of systemic marginalization — as well as the more universal challenges of anxiety, depression, grief, relational difficulties, and life transitions.
This is meaningful, relational work. You will be supported by a team that takes its values seriously, holds space for clinician wellbeing, and is committed to ongoing growth in justice-oriented practice.
Who We Are
Polestar Therapy is a social justice-oriented group psychotherapy practice rooted in anti-oppressive and liberatory frameworks. We believe healing cannot be separated from the social forces that shape our lives — and that therapy must always be grounded in love, liberation, and justice.
Our clinicians are culturally responsive and bring thoughtful attention to how race, gender, sexuality, class, ability, and other dimensions of identity intersect with mental health. We are proudly affirming of BIPOC communities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and all those navigating intersecting marginalized identities. We are fat positive, sex and kink positive, disability-informed, and spiritually inclusive. We draw from psychodynamic, relational, feminist, womanist, and queer theories, alongside evidence-based modalities including Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
We believe every person's lived experience is an essential source of knowledge — and we partner with clients to help them reclaim their narratives, deconstruct internalized oppression, and rebuild lives more aligned with their values.
