The Bob Moog Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit established in 2006 to honor the legacy of synthesizer pioneer Bob Moog. Bob Moog’s innovations in music synthesis revolutionized almost every genre of music. Based in Asheville, North Carolina, it operates through three core pillars: interactive educational programs through Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool (DBSS), deep archival preservation with the BMF Archives and The Moogseum—a physical interactive space exploring music, science, and innovation.
The In House Bookkeeper provides administrative support to the organization approximately 15 hours per week.
Essential Job Functions:
- Complete regular accounts receivable and accounts payable duties, such as preparing reports, collections, researching and reconciling discrepancies, and processing transactions.
- Provide reports to Assistant and Executive Director and Bookkeeper regarding online sales including monthly Ovation Tickets, Square Sales, and Square Cash Report, Shopify, and Kindful
- Prepare monthly data for Moogseum Store Sales, including ticket and merchandise sales
- Draft checks for Assistant and/or Executive Director to sign, pay online expenses
- Process contractor payments
- Prepare, categorize and class all monthly expenses and deposits in preparation for BMF Bookkeeper, and organize duplicate copies for archive
- Assist with 990 preparation and W-9 collection
- Maintenance in Quickbooks
- Ensures financial data is entered correctly and accurately
- Enters journal entries to debit and credit the company’s accounts
- Generates accounting and audit reports for cash receipts, accounts payable and receivable, expenditures, and profits and losses.
- Reconciles and reports differences or issues found in financial records
- Provide general administrative support, as needed
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree with accounting coursework preferred
Experience:
- 3 years bookkeeping, preferably in the nonprofit industry
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial data analysis
- Ability to use accounting software (Quickbooks) to record, store, and analyze financial data
- Ability to efficiently operate a 10-key calculator or equivalent and other related office equipment
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
- High attention to detail is of utmost importance
- Initiative, drive and self-motivation are key success traits
- Collaboration and teamwork
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary
- Intermediate bookkeeping knowledge
- Intermediate knowledge of Quickbooks
- Knowledge of Monday.com a plus
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in an office environment
- Willingness to work on weekends if necessary
