Job Overview
The Line Cook is responsible for executing high-quality food preparation, a la carte and banquet cooking in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards. This role plays a critical part in delivering a memorable dining experience by ensuring consistency, cleanliness, and efficiency across all assigned kitchen stations. The ideal candidate is a skilled multitasker who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates precision and professionalism, and maintains a strong commitment to food safety and sanitation.
General Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute menu items across multiple cooking methods, including but not limited to sautéing, grilling, roasting, frying, blanching, emulsifying, poaching, steaming, and pizza oven baking

Follow standard recipes and plating guides to ensure consistent presentation and flavor for every dish

Accurately read and prioritize orders from the kitchen printer or display system, coordinating timing across multiple stations for seamless service

Utilize advanced knife skills including slicing, dicing, julienning, batonnet, and tourne for mise en place and service preparation

Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation at all times in accordance with our “Clean as You Go” policy

Set up and break down workstation at the beginning and end of each shift, including proper storage and labeling of food items according to FIFO standards

Collaborate with team members across the kitchen to ensure smooth and efficient service, assisting other stations as needed

Monitor food quality throughout service and adjust seasoning, temperature, and cooking times as necessary to ensure guest satisfaction

Maintain cleanliness of walk-in coolers, prep areas, and kitchen equipment, including deep cleaning schedules as assigned

Properly store and handle raw and prepared foods, maintaining strict adherence to HACCP guidelines and OSHA sanitation standards

Alert sous chef or management to any equipment malfunctions, food shortages, or safety hazards

Assist with prep and production tasks as directed, including batch cooking and event support

Uphold all company policies and procedures related to kitchen operations, safety, and quality control

Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned by the culinary leadership team
Management Activities
Discretion / Independent Judgment
This position operates under direct supervision and does not involve independent judgment beyond established procedures. However, Line Cooks are expected to proactively communicate concerns, solve minor problems, and maintain workflow continuity during high-volume periods.
Job Qualifications
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience:
-
Minimum two years of culinary experience in a high-volume, upscale kitchen, or completion of a recognized culinary education program

Strong understanding of kitchen equipment and food safety practices

Must speak, read, and write English fluently to communicate effectively with team and management

Excellent communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions

Positive attitude, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset required
Physical Requirements (ADA)

Ability to speak, hear, and follow verbal directions in a high-noise environment

Stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 10 hours per shift)

Use of hands and arms in all directions; frequent reaching, lifting, bending, and twisting

Ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally

Fine motor skills required for knife work and plating precision
