Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, providing essential medical assistance on scene and during transport
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations
- Manage airway obstructions and administer airway management techniques to ensure proper breathing
- Deliver basic life support (BLS), including CPR, AED use, and medication administration when necessary
- Utilize triage skills to prioritize patient care based on severity and urgency of injuries or illnesses
- Operate emergency vehicles safely, adhering to traffic laws and driving protocols while managing heavy lifting and physical exertion
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care reports, vital signs, medications administered, and incident details
- Apply aseptic techniques during procedures such as venipuncture and injection administration to prevent infection
- Collaborate with hospital staff, including Level I Trauma Centers and Level II trauma centers, ensuring seamless patient handoff and communication
- Keep current with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, DME (durable medical equipment) handling, and emergency medicine protocols
Requirements
- Valid EMT certification with current licensure in good standing
- Prior experience in critical care settings or hospital environments preferred; experience in emergency room or urgent care is highly valued
- Demonstrated proficiency in airway management, patient assessment, and vital signs monitoring
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, medication administration, and aseptic techniques
- Experience with critical care transport services is a plus; familiarity with Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers is advantageous
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or walking
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating emergency vehicles required
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure in high-stress situations
