POSITION SUMMARY:
The Elementary Extensions Program Paraprofessional is responsible for providing support to the instructional program by assisting the Elementary Extensions Program Instructor in delivering engaging, interdisciplinary programming. This role requires overseeing students within the assigned area, documenting student behavior, and supporting hands-on learning experiences that foster problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration.

The Elementary Extensions Program Paraprofessional

Provides engaging instruction to elementary students in alignment with developed programs under the direction of the Extensions Team Lead. *

Leads whole group and small group instruction to support and reinforce classroom objectives. *

Administers a variety of activities for the purpose of supporting the extensions team. *

Utilizes classroom and behavior management skills to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment and responds appropriately to student behavior in the total school environment. *

Demonstrates flexibility and creativity when adapting instructional strategies and materials to meet diverse learning styles and needs. *

Demonstrates strong communication skills while interacting with a variety of individuals and groups (e.g. teachers, students, administrators, parents, etc.). *

Uses strong collaboration skills to work cooperatively with other members of the extensions team to co-construct learning experiences for K-5 students. *

Demonstrates a willingness to reach out to community partners to help coordinate and support unique learning experiences. *

Utilizes proficiency with Google Suite (Drive, Slides, Docs, basic features of Sheets) to perform general record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. attendance logs, activity reports).*

Maintains a variety of materials (e.g. instructional materials, files, records, charts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reference for lessons and activities. *

Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District. *

Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model. *

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to use effective communication skills; ability to use time effectively; good
organizational skills. Ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by
collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors). Ability to
operate standard office equipment and software applications, including proficiency with Google Suite (Drive, Slides, Docs, basic features of Sheets); ability to prepare and maintain accurate records. Knowledge of instructional techniques, safety practices, conflict resolution, and child development/behavior. Ability to maintain a calm demeanor, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines and schedules. Must possess strong classroom and behavior management skills, flexibility, creativity, and the ability to lead whole group and small group instruction.

Mandatory: Minimum of high school education or GED. Spanish required.

Preferred: 1+ years of experience working in a school is preferred. Experience assisting with project-based learning, STEM, place-based instruction, or arts integration is highly preferred.
