We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Travel Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide exceptional patient care across various healthcare settings throughout the United States. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories, to inform clinical decisions.
- Administer medications via various routes such as injections, IV infusions, and oral medications while adhering to safety protocols.
- Provide specialized care for patients with complex needs including dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory care, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Manage acute pain and assist with procedures such as catheterization, tube feeding, wound suturing, and sterile dressing changes.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like Cerner or Athenahealth for accurate documentation of patient care activities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and client communication to optimize health outcomes.
- Support infection control practices and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Assist in triage situations by evaluating patient symptoms and determining appropriate levels of care in urgent or emergency scenarios.
- Work within various healthcare environments including hospital intensive care units (ICU), emergency rooms (ER), skilled nursing facilities, hospice settings, and outpatient clinics.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to medical terminology, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), and long-term care regulations.
Skills
- Proven experience working as an LPN in diverse settings such as hospitals (including Level I Trauma Centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care environments.
- Strong knowledge of critical care practices including ICU procedures, ventilator management, airway management, and acute care protocols.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth for efficient documentation and data management.
- Skilled in performing IV insertions/injections, phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, and sterile techniques.
- Familiarity with medical imaging procedures and diagnostic evaluations relevant to nursing practice.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with physiology knowledge to deliver comprehensive care.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages—including pediatrics and geriatrics—and collaborate seamlessly with healthcare teams.
- Knowledge of long-term care regulations and experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail necessary for managing medical records accurately while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
