Job Summary
Modern Racing is seeking a dependable and organized Parts Counter and Inventory Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for processing customer and internal parts orders, maintaining accurate inventory, coordinating shipping and receiving, managing returns, and assisting with vendor purchasing and restocking.
The ideal candidate has automotive experience, a strong understanding of performance-racing components, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment. This role requires attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple orders and priorities throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Process customer and internal parts orders accurately and efficiently
- Enter sales orders, purchase orders, receiving documents, and inventory adjustments
- Verify part numbers, quantities, pricing, and availability
- Pick, package, and prepare outgoing orders for shipment
- Receive incoming shipments and inspect products for accuracy or damage
- Match incoming products with purchase orders and packing slips
- Coordinate freight, shipping carriers, and delivery schedules
- Process customer and vendor returns, exchanges, warranties, and damaged-product claims
- Maintain organized inventory, shelving, bins, and parts-storage areas
- Perform regular inventory counts and investigate inventory discrepancies
- Monitor stock levels and identify products that need to be reordered
- Create and submit purchase orders to vendors
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, backorders, and delivery dates
- Restock inventory and update product locations
- Maintain accurate records within the company’s inventory and order-management system
- Communicate order status, backorders, and shipping information to customers and team members
- Assist with general parts-counter and warehouse responsibilities as needed
- Maintain a clean, professional, and safe work environment
Required Qualifications
- Previous automotive parts, service, warehouse, or inventory experience
- Knowledge of automotive and performance-racing components
- Ability to identify parts and understand basic automotive terminology
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable using computers, inventory software, email, and shipping systems
- Ability to accurately enter part numbers, quantities, pricing, and customer information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
- Ability to safely lift and move packages weighing up to [50] pounds
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in the performance-racing or motorsports industry
- Experience with racing electronics, fuel systems, ignition systems, wiring components, sensors, data-acquisition equipment, or engine-management systems
- Previous parts-counter or automotive-parts sales experience
- Experience with purchasing, vendor management, and inventory control
- Experience using UPS, FedEx, USPS, or freight-shipping software
- Familiarity with QuickBooks, ERP software, or other order and inventory-management systems

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
