Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Assistant Teacher/Floater to join our early childhood education team. In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers, assist with daily activities, and ensure a safe, nurturing environment for young children. As a floater, you will have the opportunity to work across multiple classrooms, providing flexible support where needed. Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote child development and learning.
- Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and rest periods to ensure safety and engagement.
- Support children with personal care routines such as diapering, toileting, and hygiene practices in accordance with health guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment by sanitizing materials and ensuring supplies are ready for daily use.
- Communicate effectively with parents about their child's progress, behavior, and daily experiences to foster strong relationships.
- Follow all safety protocols including pediatric first aid and CPR procedures; respond promptly to emergencies or incidents.
- Collaborate with team members to create an inclusive, supportive atmosphere that respects each child's unique needs and abilities.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare centers, preschools, babysitting, nannying, or similar environments.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices.
- Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire); pediatric first aid training is preferred.
- Familiarity with special education strategies and behavior management techniques is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a classroom setting with strong child supervision skills.
- Understanding of mandated reporting laws related to child safety and well-being.
- Excellent communication skills for parent interaction and teamwork within the childcare environment.
- Flexibility to float between classrooms as needed; adaptability is essential for success in this role.
