Position Overview
The Sherry Frontenac Oceanfront Hotel is seeking a personable, energetic, and service-oriented Hostess & Pool/Beach Server to join our Food & Beverage team.
This is a combined hospitality position designed for someone who enjoys interacting with guests and is comfortable working in different areas of the resort. The position will provide hostess support for the restaurant while also serving food and beverages to guests at our pool and beach areas.
The ideal candidate is friendly, attentive, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced resort environment. Because this position frequently interacts with guests throughout their stay, professionalism, appearance, and a genuine hospitality mindset are essential.
Responsibilities
Restaurant Hostess
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival to the restaurant.
- Manage guest seating and assist with maintaining an organized flow of tables.
- Provide guests with basic information regarding restaurant hours, menus, resort amenities, and services.
- Coordinate with servers, bartenders, and restaurant management regarding seating and guest needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming restaurant entrance and host area.
- Answer guest questions professionally and assist in resolving basic concerns.
- Assist the Food & Beverage team during high-volume periods as needed.
Pool & Beach Service
- Provide friendly and efficient food and beverage service to guests at the resort pool and beach.
- Greet guests and offer menus promptly.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter orders into the POS system.
- Deliver food and beverages in a timely and professional manner.
- Check on guests throughout their experience and anticipate additional needs.
- Process guest checks and payments accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool and beach service areas.
- Monitor guest areas for used dishes, glassware, trash, and other service items.
- Communicate guest requests and operational concerns to the appropriate department.
- Follow all resort policies regarding pool and beach food and beverage service.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, hotel, resort, hostess, server, or customer-service experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and guest-service skills.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Ability to communicate clearly with guests and coworkers.
- Ability to remain organized while handling multiple guests and requests.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in a South Florida resort environment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to carry trays, food, beverages, and service items safely.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
- Weekend and holiday availability is required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who understands that hospitality is more than taking an order or seating a guest. The right person notices when a guest needs assistance, takes ownership of the situation, and helps create a welcoming resort experience.
This position is particularly well suited for someone who enjoys variety. During one part of the shift you may be welcoming guests into the restaurant, and during another you may be serving guests overlooking the ocean.
Work Environment
This position operates throughout the resort's restaurant, pool, and beachfront areas. Pool and beach assignments involve working outdoors in warm temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight.
Employees must maintain professional grooming and uniform standards while representing the resort.
Schedule
Flexible scheduling based on business levels. Candidates should be available for a combination of:
- Morning and afternoon shifts
- Evening shifts
- Weekends
- Holidays
